    An informal, online, cross-disciplinary cohort program for doctoral students intending to submit their thesis within the next year.
  • Welcome to candidacy
    A workshop for recently qualified doctoral candidates, covering how to navigate the increasing independence and new challenges associated with the candidacy period. 
  • Getting the most out of your individual development plan
    A workshop for graduate students and postdocs on creating and maintaining an IDP, and how an IDP can help you succeed in your research and professional development. 
  • Understanding intellectual property and commercialization
    A session on intellectual property, inventorship, and commercializing research as a graduate student. 
  • Getting started as a graduate researcher 
    A workshop for incoming students in research-stream master’s or doctoral programs, covering key content on transitioning to graduate school and setting yourself up for success in carrying out your graduate research. 
  • Using IDP as a supervision tool 
    A workshop for faculty covering what an individual development plan is and how to use IDP to support your graduate students’ and postdocs’ research productivity, goal setting, and career planning. 
  • Giving more effective writing feedback to graduate students 
    A workshop for faculty supervisors covering how to build strong writing feedback processes. 
  • SGS Tea & Conversations 
    An informal space for graduate students to talk about career paths. 
  • Healthy Research Teams & Labs Symposium  
    An annual event as part of the Healthy Research Teams & Labs initiative, highlighting good practices in running a healthy research team at U of T. 
  • Copyright and open access for graduate students 
    Facilitated by librarians from the Copyright & Scholarly Publishing Office, this workshop covers key content on copyright and publishing for graduate students, including information about copyright and publishing your thesis. 
  • Connaught PhDs for Public Impact Fellowship information session 
    An annual information and Q&A session about the fellowship. 
  • Three Minute Thesis information session 
    An annual information and Q&A session about the U of T 3MT program.  
  • How (and how not) to visualize your data
    A session to review the foundational concepts in information visualization and offer participants practical lessons in “how-to” and “how-not-to” create effective graphics with data.
